Internships 2010-11 (beginning Fall 2010)
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assisting program coordinator with all aspects of running the program
- Assisting participants one-on-one and in small groups
- Facilitating your own workshop(s) on a related topic, to be determined with program coordinator
- Helping coordinate exhibits and events
- Attend intern meetings and trainings
- Networking with other community youth and arts groups.
- Set up and clean up work areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with youth
- Experience with medium relevant to respective program
- Commitment to youth empowerment and social justice
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Can-do attitude and sense of humor
OFFICE INTERN:
Work alongside YAC staff to ensure smooth functioning of the organization. Office schedule: M/T/Th, flexible hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Grant research, database management, and other organizational tasks
- More experienced interns may get involved with grant proposal writing, fundraising, and organizational development
- Potential opportunity to serve as member of Board of Directors
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Experience with PC platform using MS Office, FileMaker Pro
- Knowledge of Photoshop and other design software a plus
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to multi-task and follow-through
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Interest in youth empowerment
All internships are 6-8 hours/week. Paid internships are only available for students in the Federal Work Study program. Rate $8-10/hr. Non-work study students are eligible for a semester stipend. Preference is given to interns who can make a full year commitment.
