Synphany Bates
Coordinator - GirlsEyeView Amherst
Synphany Bates Zale is thrilled to be starting her first year at YAC as Program Coordinator for GirlsEyeView Amherst.
Always artistic, Synphany began drawing on anything she could before she could speak. Her interest in photography came as a result of the amount of her fascination with city life, the moving image and the expressions of people she watched daily on television. Before coming to YAC, Synphany had worked as a photographer’s assistant, a mixed media co-educator, a drawing instructor, an exhibition curator, a diversity program coordinator, and an employment readiness coach for at-risk teens in the North Quabbin area. She has mentored many youth through these experiences.
Something about YAC that inspires Synphany is the goal of young women thinking, and responding creatively to their world. She gets energy and joy from trying new things, laughter, and helping youth be creative and achieve their goals. Artistically she is most inspired by Surrealism, music, anatomy, public art, mixed media, and propaganda art.
