Coordinator - Video Vanguards
Jova is extremely excited to be starting as the program coordinator for Video Vanguards! Although this is her first year on staff, once upon a time, 2 years ago she was an intern with the program and was so amazed by the work that youth were creating and engaging with that she couldn’t help but come back and continue working with the program!
While she was on her hiatus Jova had numerous jobs including working as a community organizer doing prison justice work, being an editor at digital media production company and as a museum educator teaching young people how to work with film/video.
When Jova was little growing up in Brooklyn, she used to want to be an artist and that dream is now her reality. She is most inspired by work that challenges social norms while also engaging with public space and identity. If she could make art, work with community programs and eat broccoli every day for the rest of her life she would be a very happy camper! If you have any ideas or just want to chat about video and art making, Jova’s ears are always open.
